A relatively newcomer to the search engine game, Wisenut have made a good start. The results seem fast and reliable with a fairly simple page design that makes distinction between the ads and search results easy for the user.
A search engine where each submitted site is actually reviewed by volunteer reviewers. However, there seems to be a high number of out of date results as the reviewers struggle to keep up with the dizzyingly fast pace of change on the world wide web.
Teoma is a crawler-based search engine owned by Ask Jeeves. We've found then a bit 'hit and miss' at times, but some people also like the "Refine" feature, which offers suggested topics to explore after you do a search.
There really isn't anything especially 'smart' about Looksmart. The web results it offers are pretty poor and the directory is rubbish.
What on earth were these guys thinking about when they named their search engine Dogpile? Well, as the name suggests, it's a big pile of nasty.
