If this was a film, this would be the bit where everyone stands up and leaves. Don't you always feel sorry for the 'key grip' and other such folk. Their names are on that big scroll that plays to an empty theatre. (What an earth is a 'key grip' anyway? Come to that what on earth does the 'best boy' do?) Anyway. These are the credits for gofromhere.com, so throw on some music from your iTunes collection and gently scroll the page - or just leave like everyone else.
Creator & webmaster : Simon Jones
Taking the concept from a previous website that he sold in early 2004, Simon
Jones decided
to create gofromhere.com in June of that same year. The motivation was simple;
to create a "friendly" and useful "home page" from which
to start all internet sessions.
Originly re-engineered by Michael Koch
The initial HTML table based website was completely
re-engineered in CSS driven XHTML by fellow web designer Michael
Koch, of
Pixelbase. Michael was writing an article on converting table
based HTML to CSS for the DMXzone website and the gofromhere.com website
was to be his example website in that article.
Webserver managed by Darryl Weaver
A life long friend of Simon, Darryl Weaver,
who runs hosting company WeaverWeb,
is gofromhere.com's Linux loving server guy. According to Simon, Darryl is a "clever
spod" who
would only ever consider putting 'open sauce' on his burgers.
Created on Apple computers
Despite a little bit of a "ding-dong" along
the way, Simon still uses a Mac (Apple Macintosh
computer).
The initial design was created on an G4 iMac with the first HTML draft created
on a PowerBook G4 several thousand feet over the North Atlantic
Ocean and in room 307 of a Chicago hotel.
Calculator adapted from calculator.org
The groovy little calculator was adapted from a similar one available
at calculator.org designed by Flow
Simulation Ltd in Sheffield, England.
